An extremely brief history of this race: Chris Ralph founded and directed it (with substantial help from others in some years) from 1993 to 2000. In 2001, Scott McCoubrey of Seattle Running Club took it over and lengthened the course from its original distance of 47.6 miles to its current distance of 50 miles.
